Team Beth

Wage Hope to end pancreatic cancer

Team Beth is back for PurpleStride Philly 2017! Our team participates in the Philadelphia PurpleStride to honor the memory of my mom Elizabeth (Beth) Kyler who passed away from pancreatic cancer July 2001. Like so many affected by this disease, my mom was taken too soon. She was only 49 years old when she lost her battle with pancreatic cancer. She was a loving wife, amazing mother, best friend/sister, a favorite aunt, and loyal friend. My mom was loved by so many and we all feel her loss. Because of this disease my mom never got to see her 50th birthday or see her three kids graduate high school and college. She didn't get to meet all her grand nieces and nephews whom she would have loved so much. She inspires us, like so many of those who lost loved ones to pancreatic cancer, to keep the fight going, to not let cancer win!

Creating Team Beth is a way for me to honor my mom's memory, as well as a way to fight against a disease that made me feel so helpless. There was nothing I could do for my mom 16 years ago, but now I help to Wage Hope for those still fighting so that one day we will beat pancreatic cancer! Every year thousands of people participate in Purple Stride Philadelphia walk/run 5k with the same goal as Team end pancreatic cancer. We are there for the ones we lost, the ones who survived, and the ones still fighting. Purple Stride helps to raise awareness as well as money for research programs, clinical trials, and patient education. Pancreatic cancer is the third deadliest cancer and has the lowest survival rate. It is expected to be the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths by 2020. So please help Team Beth fight this horrible disease!! You can help by joining the team, donating, or simply by sharing the team page!!

Thank you all for helping to honor my mom!!
