Wage Hope to end pancreatic cancer
My amazing husband was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer 4 months after his 50th birthday. And ..... 3 months before we were to renew our vows celebrating 25 years of marriage. The diagnosis of Stage 4 Cancer was like a terrorist had snuck in and set off a bomb smack dab in the middle of our lives. It was devastating! However, my husband was passionate about everything in his life. So he decided, we decided that we would fight cancer (the terrorist) passionately. He had a warrior spirit! He didn't allow this disease to decrease him. He allowed it to grow him. He evolved and became an even bigger man, an even bigger soul. He fought for 10 months. 3 months ago he laid down his sword and shield and took a rest.
But the battle isn't over. 400,000 will be diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in 2017. Most that are diagnosed will already be in the last stage of the disease. Giving most a 9% chance of survival. The reality of these statistics are that these are people suffering that will most likely leave the people and things they love most. We are losing the best and the brightest! This has to end! We had to enlist more soilders! Come up with a new battle plan. Regroup! " Not so fast killer (Pancreatic Cancer) it's not over!" The battle wages on until this disease is eradicated.
Embrace our warrior spirit and join us. (Team Warrior Rowdy Dowdy) at PurpleStride Charlotte, Saturday, September 9 and/or give a donation that will go directly to research and making the lives of people living with this disease day in and day out better.
