Wage Hope to end pancreatic cancer
Hello Family & Friends,
We are striding in loving memory of Ron Swietek. On October 22, 2013 (the day Ron's first grandchild Tanner was born), we learned he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Sadly, Ron passed away from an eight-month courageous battle on June 30, 2014. Ron was only 55. Like many individuals who are diagnosed with this horrible disease, he was taken from us way too soon. In 1989, Ron's mother, Lillian, also succumbed to pancreatic cancer at age 69.
Since Ron's passing, he now has a total of three grandchildren; two of which Ron was never able to meet (Caleb & Gavin). All three grandchildren see pictures and know him as Grandpa Swietek or Papa Ron. The family loves to share stories and memories about him with the grandchildren. Ron will always remain close to our hearts.
This will be our fourth PurpleStride as Captain Ron's Crew!
Last year in 2016, Captain Ron’s Crew raised over $14,000 awarding us the Number One Fundraising team in San Diego! We are determined to continue these fundrasing efforts which creates more awareness, raises money to further pancreatic cancer research, provides support for those affected by this disease, and ultimately to find a CURE. We cannot fight this alone; we need you more than ever!!
Pancreatic cancer has recently SURPASSED breast cancer to become the third leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States.
Please join our team & make a donation to Captain Ron's Crew and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network TODAY! Together we are supporting efforts to double the survival rate for this deadly disease by 2020. We look forward to seeing you in October!!
