Wage Hope to end pancreatic cancer
One year has passed since the death of Michele Curley from pancreatic cancer. Throughout her 5 ½ month fight, I watched Michele suffer, both physically and emotionally from this terrible disease. However, it was her cheerful disposition and infectious positivity that kept our spirits up throughout her plight.
As huge supporters of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Michele and I decided to start a team honoring her spirit and positive outlook for Purple Stride San Diego: the walk to end pancreatic cancer. Since one of Michele’s favorite hobbies was cooking, we created “MAC’s Purple Aprons.” Michele knew that she would not be around to participate in Purple Stride San Diego 2016, so instead she sewed some of the purple aprons that we wore at last year’s event.
I’m not going to try to convince you that pancreatic cancer is the cruelest of all cancers, because the fact is, all cancers are evil. But as a cancer with one of the lowest survival rates and sometimes categorized as a “death sentence”, pancreatic cancer is something that I am determined to help end within my lifetime. I know that if Michele were still here, she would be so proud and leading the fight!
If you are interested in joining me at Purple Stride San Diego 2017 on October 8, 2017, please join team “MAC’s Purple Aprons”. If you are unable to make the walk, but would still like to make an impact, please consider making a donation to“MAC’s Purple Aprons”. Your donation is tax deductible. Let’s come together and wage hope to end pancreatic cancer.
Thank you for your support!! Pat Lowery
