Wage Hope to end pancreatic cancer
Our team is raising money in support of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network by participating in PurpleStride. By making a donation to our team, you are supporting efforts to double survival for this deadly disease by 2020.
Our beloved Carmen was taken away from us on November 21, 2001 after a 4 1/2 month battle with pancreatic cancer. We come together every year to honor her memory, and to increase awareness around this horrible disease. We fundraise so that more critical research can be done to find better treatment options and create a better tomorrow for patients.
Carmen was a beautiful young woman. She was a 27 year old single mom to a young (and feisty!) daughter. She had her whole life ahead of her. But this life was cut short, and she left behind a huge family that still has nothing but love for her. We have watched her young daughter grow up into a beautiful young woman. She embodies much of her mother's spirit! When I look at her daughter, it's like looking into the past and getting a glimpse at what could have been, all at the same time.
Please make a donation today and help us reach our fundraising goal! We also hope you will join us at PurpleStride on September 9 for a day filled with HOPE as we honor all those that have been touched by this cancer.
We look forward to seeing you at First Ward Park on September 9!
