This is why I'm walking, I have a lot to live for.
Wage Hope to end pancreatic cancer
Since last year’s Purple Stride, I completed my first 6 month chemo regimen, 6 weeks of radiation. I had clean scans in Dec 2018 and June 2019. Then in July this year I went in for surgery to repair the hernia I developed from last year’s Whipple. It was then the surgeon discovered small tumors in my abdomen which he said were not detected in the scans. He changed my diagnosis to Stage 4. Now I’m back in treatment. During this year’s walk I am even more determined to beat this disease. Stage 4 is just a number, it will not defeat me!!
As I continue my battle, I feel compelled to learn more about this disease and to raise awareness and funds for research. For everyone who knows me, helping others has always been one of my core values and now I want to help others who are suffering. That's why I'm walking.
Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all major cancers, at just 9%. This deadly disease has stolen our best and our brightest, but it can’t take away our determination.
Team "Greene is the New Purple" has stepped up to Wage Hope at PurpleStride, the walk to end pancreatic cancer. Will you help us rewrite the future of this disease by making a donation today?
Every dollar that you donate ensures that the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network can continue working to create better outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients and their families. By donating to our team, you are supporting vital efforts to double pancreatic cancer survival by 2020.
