I am Mike Hoyt. I have Pancreatic Cancer. The diagnosis over six years ago was a complete surprise to me and my family as my family has no known history of pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer is a lifetime curse I and fellow patients have to live with. At this point, I expect to be getting chemo the rest of my life to control the cancer. For most of us, that lifetime is all too short. I have been fortunate to be around for six years, Since I was initially diagnosed as Stage 4, I had less than a 9% chance of surviving 5 years. Fortunately, I am still around and have no detectible cancer due to a treatment protocol just developed prior to my treatment through cancer research.
As you can see, the outlook for pancreatic cancer patients is bleak. Currently, there are many potential treatments for pancreatic cancer that are being studied or could be studied if funded. Pancreatic cancer research is needed to find a cure to this dreaded disease.
Our team is raising money in support of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network by participating in PurpleStride. Please feel welcome to join the team as well. The event is very positive and uplifting. It is a fun event and not depressing as you might expect.
By making a donation to our team, you are supporting efforts to double survival for this deadly disease by 2020.
Please make a donation today and help me to reach my fundraising goal!
