Dan was a Racer in all aspects of the word. He ran his hardest race from March until December last year. Now, we race in his memory.
Wage Hope to end pancreatic cancer
I don't need to use this space to tell you how amazing Dan was. Your memories of him speak for themselves( or if you're a friend of a friend, let me buy you a beer and tell you some stories). But why a goal of $6000? When I reflected on it, the number continued to stand out:
1. Dan is one of 6 siblings
2. Dan fought for 6 months longer than his original prognosis.
3. By doing so, we were able to celebrate his 60th birthday as a family (which is August 6th)
4. Since starting Purple Stride, the percent of patients who achieve long term survival has increased 6%.
For those of you in (or can be in) the Boston area for the walk November 3rd, I encourage you to join the team and walk with Racer Dan's Family Band--whether you're a friend of mine or a friend of Dan's--there were no strangers to him. For those who can't, I would love if you could spread the page and help us reach our goal. When we lost Dan, we lost a vibrant light. Together, in Dan's memory, we can make sure that less and less people must endure such pain.
Purple ribbons aren’t enough. Please join us in the fight today.
