Wage Hope at PurpleStride. The walk to end pancreatic cancer.
Wage Hope to end pancreatic cancer
In March 2018, our family lost my grandfather, Florentino Laguna. His diagnosis came unexpectedly. What started out as stomach pain, quickly escalated. After many tests, we learned that pancreatic cancer was the culprit and our lives would never be the same. My grandpa taught me what integrity means and he instilled values in me that I will forever be thankful for. A Korean War veteran, he loved to tell stories about the places he'd seen, the people he'd met and the experiences that the military gave him, both good and bad. He was the rock in our family, my grandma's great love, a father, a grandfather, a great grandfather and a loyal friend to many.
I hope one day we can end pancreatic cancer so that others do not have to endure what my grandpa and many others have had to.
Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all major cancers, at just 9%. This deadly disease has stolen our best and our brightest, but it can’t take away our determination.
Our team has stepped up to Wage Hope at PurpleStride, the walk to end pancreatic cancer. I ask you to make a donation and become one of Tiny's Angels as we walk to rewrite the future of this disease.
Every dollar that you donate ensures that the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network can continue working to create better outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients and their families. By donating to our team, you are supporting vital efforts to double pancreatic cancer survival by 2020.
