Wage Hope to end pancreatic cancer
"As many of you know, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in August of 2015. I had the Whipple surgery a few weeks later, followed by radiation and chemo, which I still receive. I am doing GREAT, thus my motto– NO BAD DAYS!
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) is an incredibly helpful organization that provides support for patients and funds extensive research in search of a cure for pancreatic cancer. At this time, only 9% of us with this disease are expected to live more than 5 years after diagnosis. My plan is to be one of the lucky persons who beats these odds!
Your donation to PanCAN will advance critical research, provide support to patients and families, and get us closer to doubling the survival rate by 2020. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?
On November 18 at 9:30 a.m., you can join my PanCAN team and me at Mason Park in Irvine for a 5K walk. If walking is not your thing, please consider making a donation to PanCAN – any amount will do a world of good!
Thank you dear friends,
PS. A quick story…
The week before my Whipple surgery, my grandson Asher (7 at the time) and I were walking on the beach, holding hands.
Asher said to me, Grandma, you don’t seem sick.
I totally agree with you, I feel good! I replied.
Then how did that “thing” get inside of you? he asked.
No one knows, I responded, at which point he let go of my hand, put both hands on his hips and demanded, Are they doing research?
Well PanCAN, thank you for answering a little boy’s wish, and his grandma’s too!"
