Welcome to My Personal Page
Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all major cancers, at just 9%. This deadly disease has stolen our best and our brightest, but it can’t take away our determination.
My personal fight against pancreatic cancer began last September at the Portland Dragonboat Festival. Dragonboat races are always exciting and I love participating, but I had just been diagnosed 2 days before after an abdominal ultrasound showed a highly suspicious malignant mass on my pancreas. That explained the stomach pain I had been experiencing for several months! At any rate, I felt that particular race might be my last forever, so I paddled like my life depended on it. So the diagnosis turned out to be advanced pancreatic cancer to be treated with ongoing chemotherapy. I also joined a clinical trial which I believe has contributed to tumor shrinkage and better health. I have continued to paddle and am looking forward to the 2018 Portland Dragonboat Festival!! I don't know where this will all end, but I continue to live life and appreciate the positive work and message that PanCan provides!
