When David was diagnosed, we were told that he was among the "lucky ones" because he was a candidate for surgical removal of his tumor. Without surgery, there is no hope for survival. As it turned out, David endured one major surgery and then chemotherapy and then radiation and then another major surgery...but none were effective against this deadly cancer that carries a five year survival rate of about six percent. He lost his battle on May 29th, 2014 at the age of 53. His death left an indescribable void in our family. We continue to heal, but we will never be the same.
This will be our fourth PurpleStride since we lost David. Each year, I am blessed to be surrounded by a large and loving group of friends and family members who come out to remember him and #wagehope to end Pancreatic Cancer. I would be honored to have you join us.
