Welcome to Alison's Purple Stride page
I'm raising money in support of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network by participating in PurpleStride. Many of you may know my husband Doug died of a fairly rare neuroendocrine carcinoma of the pancreas that had spread to his liver. You might have heard that Aretha Franklin also recently passed away from this rare form of pancreatic cancer. Usually they have no symptoms for this cancer until it has spread extensively. In response to our family's misfortune, our son Braden has decided to focus on researching cancers and how cancer cells behave. He has been studying surgical outcomes of patients with pancreatic cancer in order to support surgeons and researchers fight neuroendocrine tumors. Research is being done on all types of pancreatic cancers across the US, and I am hoping for early detection for others so they can get the treatment they need to live a long life with their family and friends.
By making a donation to me or my team, Remembering Doug, you are supporting efforts to double survival for this deadly disease by 2020.
I would love to have you join me in the Portland Purple Stride on Saturday September 29, or simply donate any amount to support this cause that has affected so many of our friends, coworkers, and families. Any amount helps, no matter how small.
Please make a donation today and help me to surpass my fundraising goal!
