Strider Stories

It was by pure chance that I went to the emergency room one day in May. Who knew what I thought was “gas pain” would change my life forever.

Summer and I found PanCan late in [our dad's] diagnoses but signed up for Advocacy Day anyway and went seven weeks after his passing. For the first time, we were around people who understood what we went through and immediately felt like apart of a family.

My uncle (Neil) was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. I thought by creating this team my family and friends would be able to join him in his biggest fight right now.

I stride in loving memory of my mom, Joan. In September 2016, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away in February 2017. The diagnosis came as such a shock to our family since my mom was always in good health and rarely had as much as a sniffle.

PurpleStride is Back!

PurpleStride is back and better than ever! This year, our event will take place on Saturday, 04/13/2019, and will take participants on a lovely route at Prospect Park (Nethermead East).

Register now and join us for a day filled with hope and inspiration to raise funds, awareness and support for pancreatic cancer! Register here.

We stride to make sure that other people have a chance, because a five year survival rate of 9 percent is unacceptable and because it's what "Papa Z" would have done.
