Our family is raising money in support of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network by creating a fundraising page.
By making a donation in memory of our mom, you are helping to advance research, support patients and create hope for those fighting pancreatic cancer.
As you all know this is a terrible disease and I am sure our mom would want to help raise money to combat it.
Our mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer on March 28th, 2018. It had matasticized to her liver, spleen, lungs and abdominal wall. She was given 4-6 months to live. Well thankfully, after 12 rounds of VERY STRONG chemo her tumors had shrunk about 70% which was beyond amazing! From October until June she had off from chemo and from October to April she lived her life as if nothing was wrong. We got one last Thanksgiving and Christmas together as well as another birthday for all four of us and another anniversary for our parents. What a true blessing to have that time where she was living life like she was cancer free! Starting in April even though the physical tumors were barely coming back and her tumor markers were relatively low, she developed ascites, which is fluid in her abdominal wall. Eventually that became significant enough that it caused her some pain and discomfort. They were able to manage the fluid by draining it every couple days. She got through 2 rounds of chemo that really took their toll a lot more than the 1st 12 rounds. She became too weak to get the chemo anymore and our priority was to get her eating, drinking and exercising better to get her strength back. Unfortunately, her liver was quietly failing in the background. We were blessed that she was not in much pain or discomfort for more than a week. She passed away peacefully on September 5th, 2019.
Our mom fought SO HARD and we had SO MANY blessings along this hard journey. All of our friends and family have been so supportive and loving on us so much and for that we can not thank you all enough.
If you would like to do something in honor or our mom, in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to this amazing organization for pancreatic cancer.
